Internship: Mechanical/Prototyping
Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in the Energy Storage industry working specifically with our team on prototyping and test systems. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the build, assembly, and integration of RedoxBlox prototype systems, with a primary focus on Component Test Stands (CTS-2 and CTS-3). The role emphasizes hands-on mechanical work informed by engineering drawings and close interaction with experimental hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with assembly and integration of prototype test systems after design finalization
- Support mechanical layout, fit-up, and installation of components and subsystems
- Interpret and work from CAD drawings and fabrication packages
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues during prototype build and operation
- Contribute to technical documentation and build procedures
Requirements/Qualifications
- Pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong mechanical intuition and willingness to work hands-on in a lab environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with prototype assembly, test rigs, or experimental hardware
- Familiarity with machining, fabrication, or shop tools
- Interest in energy systems or thermal technologies
Duration:
This is a full-time internship position for 90 days, starting approximately mid-June 2026 and ending approximately mid-September 2026. Opportunities for employment continuation can be discussed at the conclusion of the internship and is not guaranteed.
Location:
100% on-site in our San Diego office located in east Sorrento Valley (92121).
Pay:
Bachelor’s: $30/hr
Master’s: $32/hr
