Director of Supply Chain
Job Summary
We are seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead the end-to-end strategy, execution, and optimization of our supply chain operations. This role is a high-impact role that will directly support rapid prototyping, pilot deployment, and commercial scale-up of our thermochemical storage systems. This person requires strong expertise in industrial hardware supply chains, contract negotiations, vendor qualification, and strategic sourcing with an emphasis on cost, reliability, and decarbonization. This role will work
cross-functionally across Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Manufacturing to lay the supply chain foundation for RedoxBlox. Physical presence required at least 3 days a week at the San Diego HQ site.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategic sourcing and procurement roadmap aligned with RedoxBlox’s technical and commercialization goals.
- Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers for pilot-scale and commercial systems with a focus on quality, capacity, risk, and cost.
- Lead supplier negotiations, establish master supply agreements, and manage bill of materials (BOM) costing and optimization.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct business reviews, and manage escalations in collaboration with RedoxBlox executive leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement in cost, lead time, quality, and delivery performance.
- Partner closely with Engineering to ensure supplier inputs inform early design and enable cost-effective scaling.
- Create and implement supply chain systems, including policies, tools, and compliance frameworks (e.g., Supplier Code of Conduct).
- Forecast supply needs, manage planning, and establish KPI-driven performance tracking across the supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with trade regulations, material traceability standards, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) requirements.
- Operate effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels—willing and able to execute hands-on tasks while building long-term systems and strategies in a lean team environment.
- Recruit and lead a small team of Global Supply Chain Mangers to support growth and operational execution after initial phase build out.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in supply chain, strategic sourcing, or procurement roles, including experience in early-stage and scaling environments.
- Ability to work onsite in San Diego minimum 3 days a week.
- Ability to travel 75% of the time domestically and internationally. Travel may include site visits, supplier meetings, and industry events. Candidates must have a valid passport and be able to comply with all applicable travel and entry requirements.
- Proven experience scaling supply chains from R&D to commercial deployment.
- Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations and cost reductions, especially in technical or industrial hardware environments (energy storage, clean tech, semiconductors, or similar).
- Deep understanding of contract manufacturing, sourcing strategy, and supplier management from prototype through production.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to apply data to drive decisions.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Team-oriented with a sense of ownership and urgency to get things done.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing teams and scaling supply chain functions.
- Familiarity with industrial systems, large-scale hardware, or capital equipment.
- Experience supporting international sourcing strategies.
- Comfort in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
- Adept at navigating ambiguity, trade-offs, and complex decisions with limited data.
- Professional certifications such as CSCP, CPSM, CPIM, PMP, SCPro™, or Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) are a plus.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with procurement and supply chain systems, including but not limited to:
- Procurement platforms (e.g., Procurify, Coupa, SAP Ariba)
- ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
- Engineering tools and data management platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, PDM, PLM systems like Arena or Propel)
- MRP systems, inventory management tools, and supplier performance platforms
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $175,000 to $225,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, location, and relevant education or training.
