People Operations Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile People Operations Manager to join our rapidly growing post-Series A startup. As our first dedicated Human Resources / People Ops hire, you will play a crucial role in shaping our company culture, developing our HR processes, and supporting our team’s growth. The People Operations Manager will be expected to articulate OKRs for the position and demonstrate the ability to achieve metrics-oriented results. The position is located in RedoxBlox’s San Diego headquarter offices.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, from sourcing to offer negotiation
- Develop and implement an effective onboarding program for new hires
- Create and maintain job descriptions for all roles within the company
Employee Experience and Engagement
- Design and execute initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention
- Conduct regular pulse surveys and implement feedback-driven improvements
- Organize team-building activities and company events to foster a positive culture
HR Operations and Compliance
- Work in conjunction with accounting team members on payroll processing and benefits administration
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records
- Develop and update HR policies and the employee handbook
Performance Management and Development
- Implement a performance review process aligned with company goals
- Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities
- Support managers in addressing performance issues and creating improvement plans
Compensation and Benefits
- Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation packages
- Manage the company’s benefits program and explore new offerings as we grow
HR Analytics and Reporting
- Develop and track key HR metrics to inform decision-making
- Prepare regular reports for leadership on workforce trends and insights
Culture and Values
- Collaborate with leadership to define and reinforce company values
- Implement initiatives to maintain our culture as we scale
Employee Lifecycle
- Assist with and lead, where appropriate, employee relations matters
- Ensure offboarding procedures are smooth with an eye toward security and compliance
Strategic Planning
- Partner with leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives
- Develop scalable HR processes to support our anticipated growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development/Psychology or related fields
- 4-6 years of HR or People Operations experience, preferably at least some in a startup or high-growth environment
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws
- Experience with HRIS and ATS systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Penchant for continuous learning and improvement and a positive attitude and outlook
- Bias toward action, but an ability to acknowledge and fix mistakes quickly
- Proactive problem-solver with a data-driven approach
- Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP)
- Experience implementing HR processes from scratch
- Familiarity with startup operations and culture
